Leeds

Hiya loves, Sorry but I don't have much more to say than Ben... I'm in Leeds at the moment, Claire drove us up on the M1 last night so they could go to a family wedding. I've come into the city to do the tourist thing but ended up signing up with their library just so I could get free internet and check on you guys! Leeds is a lot smaller than I expected, I've been wondering if I'm not actually in Leeds but a smaller city...but there's signs saying Leeds on all the buildings. I'd say the city is around the size of Wollongong, but it's all very English looking. Everyone here sounds like Adelle's parents, I don't know why but I'm really excited about that. Maybe cos they remind me of home? I spent the day on Friday working out the tube and doing a brief tour of London with Adam. I've been trying to work out where I'd like to live and I can't really imagine living anywhere but London. This country is to dreary and grey I think I would get too depressed in any smaller cities. I love London so far, it's so easy to get around, there is so much diversity of races and culture, and there are things on everywhere you look! I've seen so many posters for cool exhibitions that I want to go to. Australians are everywhere... Hi Five are doing a tour soon, and Missy Higgins... and there's a Walkabout pub on every second corner, including one here in Leeds. Adam and Claire's flat is fantastic... I can't wait to take some photos! It's a very very small flat but it's on the 3rd floor of terrace house in a suburb absolutely chockers with terrace houses... It's just like in Notting Hill or any other Hugh Grant movie... In fact it's only a couple of streets away from Notting Hill. Their group of flats are on a block that's shaped like a triangle so from their little tiny balcony you look down on a huge overgrown courtyard and the backs of other flats with balconies across the tirangle, and you can see a catheral and right out towards Wembly beyond the townhouses. I love the courtyard, if I'm still there when it gets warmer I'm gonna sit out there and watch everyone across in the other townhouses... It's just like Rear Window, I can easily see everyone else but they can't see me. All I need to do is find a dress like Grace Kelly's and I'll have my perfect little Hitchcock fantasy world! I've got mixed feelings about this crazy moving to England thing at the moment. I guess now that Dad's gone and I have to start looking for a job and actually do what I came here to do. I have this really sick feeling that by jumping into the deep end I'm going to have to actually test myself. Now that I'm here I have that feeling of 'now what?'... and I can't turn to anyone to tell me what to do. What I'm going to have to do is print out my CV on monday and start joining some agencies and just go for it. I'm pretty confident about being able to get a temp job, and I can always look into the design industry once I have a bit of money coming in. Anyway I have a feeling my blogs are not going to be so interesting either for a while now... looks like it's up to the peoples in Aussieland to keep this thing interesting! I'll take some photos of London when I can be bothered finding batteries for my camera... bye bye for now Becky

Wow Becky! You are actually there and doing it- i think i understand the sick feeling- and i reckon the best way to make it disappear is with a couple of pints at a pub in Covent Garden..... Alternatively, as soon as you get a job it will go away. (Am working the design contacts for you at the moment...!)

As for Leeds being surprisingly small- my experience was the same-most of the cities are small, its just that there are heaps of them... really close together... everywhere!

Anyhoo, have more to say, probably more suited to an email. But I would once again like to agree with Jaan on the issue of photo's. WHERE ARE THEY??!!
