It's finally happening...

"Yarn!" final

Well, I can't put if off anymore. It's official - I am actually leaving the country on August 22nd. I received my passport in the mail on Monday, I bought my ticket last Thursday, I've even come up with a rough itinerary for Canada. Pretty organised huh? Don't worry that I'm leaving in less than a month. That's heaps of time left. It's actually turned out pretty sweet - due to friends knowing people, me meeting people off the net and the documentary opening doors for me, it looks like there's only 2 cities where I need to find accomodation in a hostel of some kind - everywhere else there is a house for me to stay in. So I'm quite chuffed about that. Even in the UK there are a few places to stay in, and not just in London. Got someone I can stay with in Liverpool as well as in Cornwall. I'm still to get all my meds and general bags and clothes etc, but they can all wait until the night before.

Oh, and that's the other bit of news. My going away / fundraiser party is finally happening. So, anyone who is in the Adelaide area, come to the Jade Monkey on Friday August 12 at 8:30pm sharp for a brilliant night of music, food, drinks and prizes (not to mention seeing me before I jet off). It costs $5 to get in which includes a ticket for the door prize. There will be various auctions and raffles throughout the night with even more awesome prizes to be won. Trust me, they're GREAT. And the musical entertainment will be provided by noneother than LeighStarDust, The Dairy Brothers and The Audreys. What a line up! Trust me - something for everyone in that lot!

I think that's about all from the keyboard of Jaan. If not, I'm sure I'll post something later...

P.S. I've updated the poster, so things should be a bit clearer than they were before.

Vanity Publishers Inc.

Hey everybody (anybody?), As much fun as it's been to write all about myself on the internet and marvel in my own greatness, it's getting a little old. So, if you're reading this i want you to post a comment and tell me what you did today, yesterday, or something really interesting (about you), it could even be a lie if you want. Ah heck, it doesn't have to be really interesting, it can be totally boring. Peter and Trudy don't have internet readily available (how on earth is he surviving?!), Jaan and Becky have their own Blogs and kate has a boyfriend and a car ... it's getting a little lonely on here. I want to know what's going on back home (or elsewhere on the planet) so let me know!

So that's what homesickness is!

For the first time the other day I had a bout of what I've diagnosed as homesickness. Don't worry I'm cured now. I never understood what the feeling was but for me it kind of hit me that nobody in this country knows me as well as anybody back home. Also it doesn't really help having most of them speak french and not the best english. I didn't really miss my home or my family or my friends in particular (don't worry guys i still love you all immensely) but it was more a feeling of being alone and unknown. But it's passed now and has just motivated me to build some good friendships where I am now. So here's to that!

... the uni bum returns

Well after eleventy million years of waiting I finally know that I'll be commencing a BFA in September. This is cool and uncool at the same time. Cool because I'm going to be studying and learning stuff and making filums. Uncool because I won't get to bus around Canada with Jaan (but i'll get to see him here in montreal) I won't be able to take a trip to England to visit my buddies as soon as I'd liked and I won't be able to see my folks when they're going to be in Las Vegas in September. It also means I'm going to be an impoverished student ... Young One's impoverished ... none of this swanky Adelaide living for me! Donations of lentils and video nasties would be greatly appreciated.

A little trip to Victor

view from balcony

Hi all. Well, this is a travel blog, so I thought I would post something about our little venture to Alley's Gpa's house at Victor Harbour.

Maestro, Holly, Alley and I left yesterday morning about 9:30 to make sure we could get as much of Victor as we could since we had to leave Wednesday morning. We arrived before lunch and checked out the house and view (which are both amazing) and then headed into town to get some food and do a spot of op-shopping. Talk about success! All of us managed to find numerous pieces of clothing to purchase which we paraded later in the day.

The afternoon was spent drinking wine, playing cards and a climb up the bluff for a bit of exercise. Then we came back, sat on the balcony some more and admired the amazing sunset (the photo doesn't do it justice!).

We were then treated to a delicious dinner from Maestro and Holly, which, get this guys, was totally vegetarian! I know, hard to believe, and even harder to believe that I actually liked it. It was a eggplant and mushroom stroganoff(?) with cous cous. Yum! And to wash it all down was apple crumble with ice cream.

Drinks were then enjoyed all round, along with puzzles, movies and yet more card games. Left this morning so Holly could open Irving Baby at 11. So there ya go, an entry from Jaan about his little voyage.
